Quit worrying what others will think of you

Am I now trying to win the approval of men or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ. —GALATIANS 1:10

Many of us are people pleasers. We want everyone to like us. We want everyone to think we’re a nice person. We like to just blend into a crowd and not open ourselves up in a way that may cause people to say, “Well, that’s weird.”

We live in a world where approval matters. So much of what we post online is about wanting to get likes or have people tell us how great or funny we are.

The problem is, there will always be people who don’t like us, sometimes for reasons we don’t understand. Which is why we need to remind ourselves that the only approval that matters comes from God. Nobody knows you like God knows you. And since only God knows us inside out, his approval is the one that matters.

What will help you overcome the fear of what others think about you is asking God to help you find true security that can only come from Him, which means knowing who you are in Christ, what he has done for you, and that you are so dearly loved.

TAKEAWAY

Find the thing and purpose for which you were created and quit worrying what others will think of you. When we are doing what God created us to do, we will find much happiness in that, and we won’t care as much what other people think.

THINK ABOUT IT . . .

What are the things you love to do the most in life?
