Spring is officially here! The sun is shining, the grass and trees are getting greener, and there’s a sense of renewal and lifted spirits abounding. At Zonderkidz, this is one of our most favorite times of the year as we celebrate Easter and God’s gift to us of his son, Jesus, making all things new.
When I was growing up, I loved waking up early on Easter morning, rushing into our kitchen, and finding a lovely basket of goodies. The one thing I remember most vividly is that the basket contained a little bit of candy and a whole lot of truth. Of course, at an early age, I didn’t think of it that way. But as an adult, and now as a mom, I am so appreciative that my parents thought beyond the baskets and candy and had the deep desire to share the message of the gospel with me through the written word. Whether it was a Bible storybook, a picture book, a devotional, a game, or activity books, there were always words—powerful words—that helped lay the faith foundation for my sister and me. I still have many of these books today, and I share them with my own children.
This is one of the reasons I love my job so much. I am grateful for the opportunity to work on a publishing team that creates books for children that support the spiritual development of children and families.
